1. Which software is required to use MaxTip ?
2. What kind of files are supported by MaxTip ?
3. Which information is extracted from the files ?

Q: Which software is required to use MaxTip ?
A: MaxTip relies on ActiveDesktop - a feature introduced by Internet Explorer 4.0. You do not need to use Internet Explorer as your default browser. Usually, Windows 98, ME, NT4, 2000, XP and .NET satisfy all requirements.
The MaxTipInstaller is based on the Microsoft Installer service that is part of Windows ME, XP, 2000 and .NET. Windows 9x/NT4 user can download the Microsoft Installer runtime for free. All files are linked in the download area.

Q: What kind of files are supported by MaxTip ?
A: MaxTip 0.80 is able to recognise MP3, JPEG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, AVI, PDF and PostScript. I plan to add support for PNG, PCX, EXE, HTML, ZIP, ... stay tuned !

Q: Which information is extracted from the files ?
A: By default MaxTip retrieves the file size and the associated file type. A complete overview is shown below:
